Updates can fix security issues and bugs, but a busy site needs a recoverable change process.
What to do
- Make a current backup of the database and files and confirm how you would restore it.
- Check compatibility and license requirements for the affected plugins and theme. Use staging for significant changes.
- Apply updates in a planned window, then test sign-in, forms, navigation and any store workflow.
- If something breaks, record the update and error before changing more components. Ask for help with a controlled rollback.
Good to know
Hosting alone does not include unlimited application maintenance. A care plan or separately approved task can cover defined update work.
